Merek’s Market Opens its Doors on September 15th for PS4

Bring ye old sheep stomach for life.

Big Village Games has announced today that it will be opening the doors to Merek’s Market on September 15th, 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. The game will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.

So what’s it all about then?

Merek’s Market is a co-op set in, er, Merek’s… shop. His medieval shop, actually, and your tasks include serving the hordes of weirdo customers, haggling the prices with the Karen’s, and crafting recipes to please the fussy customers. It actually sounds a lot like our recently reviewed co-op shop game, Potion Party, though looking at the trailer, it’s got a bit more going on with its mini-games and challenges.

“The last 18 months have been really tough on everyone so what better way to mark the return to “normality” than a session of good, old fashioned co-op gaming set in a store with no masks required?” ponders Dave Warderley of Big Village Games. “Merek’s Market is fun for all the family – friends away for the summer break? Your parents will totally be useful teammates. Lockdown took its toll? Save the relationship with some quality time. Struggle with the most basic games? That’s fine, just look like you’re doing something useful while your team carries you.”

Can’t argue with the simplicity, but we’ll have to see if it’s any good when it releases on September 15th for the pocket-money price of £14.99/$19.99/€17.99. Before then, you can have a peek at the game’s trailer below.

Merek’s Market game features

  • Haggling – Get the best price by trying to read customers and discreetly adjusting your prices.
  • Crafting – Make some beautiful inventions…and some fairly awful looking ones too. It’s hard to argue with a paying customer.
