Mervils: A VR Adventure originally released on Steam last October and it was showered with praise. It seemed only natural that it would come to PlayStation VR and come it shall. On February 21st, PSVR owners will be taken on an old-school RPG journey that has been described as a cross between classic Zelda and Mario titles. You navigate an open world through a third-person, VR perspective in order to save the Mervil Kingdom from Balazar the Evil. The name alone should tell you how old school these inspirations are. If that wasn’t enough, the main character has a wizard friend called Merlyn the Blue.
From a technical point of view, the game can be played at roomscale with motion controllers or by sitting/standing with a Dualshock 4 controller. You’ll also have a few different movement options to ease into the experience. As usual there will be a blink traveling method, a smooth follow, or your own custom camera mode. Not that it has anything to do with the mechanics but we’ve heard you can roast marshmallows in Mervils. Consider us sold.
Mervils: A VR Adventure is developed by VitruviusVR and received very positive reviews from critics and players alike. We can only hope that the transition between virtual reality technologies is a smooth one because let’s be honest, we need some RPG love in our PSVR headsets. Let us know what you think about the next VR adventure in the comments!
