Deep Silver and 4A Games have announced today that Metro Exodus will be getting a release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles with major enhancements in tow. The game will run at higher frame rates, increased resolutions, and with reduced loading times, as well as “stunning” ray tracing features that are now possible on the next-gen hardware.
That’s good news, but the really good news is that if you own Metro Exodus on your current-gen system, you’ll get the enhanced next-gen version for free. There’s no release date as of yet, but that will come “in the near future”.
4A Games has also confirmed that the next Metro game is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This will include a complete overhaul of the game engine and renderer to take advantage of the new consoles and the features they afford the developers, like ray tracing, higher frame rates, and resolutions, as well as more detailed graphical effects.
“As a small studio we have never been able to do justice to these ambitions, and our ideas have never made it beyond the prototype phase,” said 4A Games. “But with Saber’s experience in online gaming, we are now actively exploring multiplayer concepts that will offer a new way to experience the world of Metro.”
