Mickey Storm and the Cursed Mask is splashing its way onto consoles today.
The past year has not been the best time for most of us to experience a good-old-fashion waterpark. However, developer Triangle Studios and publisher Lion Castle have released the waterpark action-platformer Mickey Storm and the Cursed Mask.
The game will cost £14.99/ €17.99 / $17.99, and a physical release is scheduled to come out sometime later this year.
The story follows Mickey Storm and his family as they prepare for the grand opening of the world’s most exciting waterpark. Mickey is looking forward to vlogging about the experience, like most youth these days, until his parents are kidnapped.
He later discovers this was an elaborate ploy to lure his parents, as there the world’s most famous super spies. So now, with the help of his sister, Jenny Storm, they begin their courageous quest to save their parents from the evil mastermind called Dr Fisher.
The game’s release has been accompanied by a launch trailer that shows the action-platforming in full swing. However, the gameplay does not appear to elaborate on surface value, which seems fitting for a younger audience.
There will be 70 waterslides to overcome, which will involve figuring out platforming segments by jumping, sliding and avoiding hazardous traps within the waterpark. You don’t have to do this alone, as you can team up with someone in local co-op multiplayer.
Alongside this, there will be hidden collectables to be discover hidden within the environments. But don’t worry, you can travel across the park in style as there will be unlockable rides and outfits for your character, including a fabulous looking unicorn ride. Who wouldn’t want to slide down a waterpark with a unicorn?
Commenting on the new release and reflecting on the current state of the world, Lion Castle Executive Producer Roderick Roode said:
“Covid-19 has made a tremendous impact on people all over the world and countless children will not be able to go on holiday this year. That’s why we wanted to try and bring a little happiness to them with Mickey Storm. To do more, we’re also partnering up with War Child and donating 5% of all lifetime revenues to support children in conflict zones, who really do have nothing.”
Mickey Storm and the Cursed Mask is available now on PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
