Alvo, an online military first-person shooter from developer Mardonpol, is coming to the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in 2018. If you’ve been following this VR title, than you know it’s going to support PlayStation’s superb Aim controller. The folks at Mardonpol also promise full cross-platform support between the three headset heavyweights to subvert the inevitable small player base that comes with new hardware.
Currently, the studio has confirmed three game modes: Search and Destroy, which will feature one team of five trying to plant a bomb at the other team’s base. Free 4 All, which is your basic deathmatch. And finally, Domination, which will feature teams trying to capture and hold control points.
Speaking to Upload VR, the studio said,
“We’re hoping Alvo caters to all types of players. We have game modes that are suited for the Counter-Strike/Rainbow Six: Siege type gamers who want slow tactical team based gameplay. We also have game modes for Call of Duty type gamers who want more of a lone wolf run and gun type mode. We’re just hoping to deliver a satisfying online FPS, especially to the PSVR community that lacks one at the moment.”
It’s clear that Mardonpol isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with Alvo, but if they can deliver a true first person shooter for the PSVR that satisfies that particular itch, than we’ll be more than happy to go along for the ride. There is no concrete release date for Alvo as of yet, but be sure when we know, you’ll know.
