Minecraft Has Had Its Last PS3 and PS Vita Update, Support is Now Ending

Minecraft on PS3 and PS Vita will never be update again. The state the game is in as of today is the state in which it will remain.

With the latest update for the last-gen home console and neglected handheld, 4J Studios is ending support. The latest – and final – update for Minecraft on PS3 and Vita pushes the Nightmare Before Christmas texture pack, but that’s it. From here on out there will be no more updates to the game.

It’s not surprising, really, considering that most active Minecraft players are either playing on their PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, or iOS/Android device. It makes sense, then, that the developer would free up resources by letting go of the old consoles. It’s not just the PS3 and Vita but also the Nintendo WiiU and Xbox 360. So if you currently play Minecraft on any of these consoles, this new update will be the last. If you want future Minecraft content, you’re just gonna have to suck it up and move onto a new device.

It was a good run while it lasted and I really, really enjoyed playing the game on PS Vita. Heck, I may yet enjoy it for some time to come.
