Not too long ago it was announced that PlayStation shot down the idea of mods for Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4. It caused quite a stir that left fans angry at developer Bethesda, PlayStation itself, or both. Today however, the two powerhouse game companies came to an agreement for mod support on the PlayStation 4.
However, PS4 users won’t be able to upload any external assets but will be able to use all assets that come with the game. You can create your own content by using the creation kit which is available to download at the bottom of the page here. In addition, once you create a Bethesda.net account you’ll be able to lookup and implement mods straight from within the titles.
First to receive the support is Skyrim Special Edition which releases on October 28th. Once that is done Bethesda will move on to updating Fallout 4 with mods and compatibility with the PS4 Pro. After all was said and done Pete Hines, vice president of PR, had this to say.
Big thanks to the folks at @PlayStation who worked with us to get PS4 mod support out for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Doesn’t happen without them.
