The PS5 has been one of – if not the – most highly sought-after products this year, selling out within minutes anytime stock goes live on any retail website. The demand has been huge and has far outstripped Sony’s ability to deliver, though it’s not for a lack of trying. This is 2020, after all, and nothing has been easy this year. A man can’t even sneeze and cough loudly in a public space without getting publically flogged…
We’ve had multiple rounds of PS5 pre-orders go live, only to sell out and, in some cases, end up in the hands of scalpers. Sony has since assured fans that there will be another chance to get a PS5 console this year.
Tweeting on the official Twitter account, Sony has thanked fans for their patience and promised more stock will be arriving at retailers before the end of the year. The bad news? This is still 2020, so expect most of these consoles to be sold online, therefore being susceptible to scalpers.
If you’re not able to get a PS5 this year, don’t fret it. 2021 will hopefully be a little bit more normal and by the summer you could potentially walk into your favourite shop – mask free and with your mates – and pick up a console in person, shaking the hand of the cashier who has given you a free bag to carry it home in. Ah, the stuff of dreams, innit?
