A closed beta for Mortal Kombat 11 will be starting soon. The beta for the bloody fighter that has been scaring parents for decades will be limited in characters and scope, but it will give players their first taste of the new Custom Character Variation System. It allows you to change a character’s appearance with different skins and switch gear, brutalities, special abilities, intros, and victory cinemas.
The closed beta will run through March 31st in North America, but you will be able to play as Scarlet, Baraka, Jade, Kabal, and Scorpion in multiplayer and Towers of Time. Singleplayer will have challenges you need to overcome. I’m guessing that means testing your might and matches, but we’ll see.
If you are in Europe and the UK, your closed beta will run from March 28th through April 1st. You can check this tweet for exact details for your region. No matter where you call home, the only way into the close beta is by pre-ordering the game. Check with your favorite retailer to see if they are participating.
Lastly, I have a pair of trailers for you. Up top, there is a trailer for the closed beta. At the bottom, we have a character trailer for Kotal Kahn. The character trailers will show off some moves and end with a fatality, so they are very nice. Mortal Kombat 11 will allow everyone to perform gory fatalities when it launches on April 23rd.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
