With most of the world affected by the coronavirus, a number of media projects are starting to feel the heat. The latest of these is the PlayStation’s main man, Geralt, who is currently journeying through the production stage of his second season adventure in Netflix’s The Witcher. Or at least he was until filming was halted recently.
And it looks like no amount of potions are going to heal this one.
Filming had been underway at Arborfield Studios, which is based in Wokingham, UK. But our country is currently trying to contain the virus that has taken the world largely by surprise. As a result, a number of measures have been put into place that are hampering daily activities. And other non-essential jobs are being put on hold. Remote working is proving extremely popular, but that’s not really an option when a set and camera are involved. So, Geralt has been put in isolation until further notice.
Not that I’d have the guts to tell him!
Whether this affects the overall production schedule is yet to be seen. It doesn’t, obviously, depend on the length of time that such a halt is in place. But you can’t be too careful when it comes to the health of your cast, which means such precautions are necessary. We do know, however, that Netflix will be desperate to get this second instalment out so when things do start up again, they should be able to save the day with a little overdrive.
But, in all seriousness, I’m sure that the world wishes Geralt could do a little foraging and concoct a remedy before far too many people suffer as a result. So, let’s not forget that a slight delay in a “TV” series is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
