Psychonauts 2 is an upcoming game for the PlayStation 4. Although, you would be forgiven for forgetting about it – given the lack of related news. However, above this jabbering you can find the latest trailer to drop, which gives us a look at both the game’s mechanics and its environment in general. And it doesn’t look half bad.
It hasn’t had many development updates. But today we’ve been gifted a new trailer for Psychonauts 2, which shows off one of its new powers. The new PSI-Power Mental Connection, as it is called, will act a bit like the grappling hook mechanic most commonly found in zombie survival games or treasure hunting classics. However, it will allow you to traverse a world that is far different to that found in those.
Just look at how colourful it is!

This update comes after a disappointing delay to the game’s launch, along with its acquisition by the enemy (aka, Microsoft). But we were assured the game would still launch on a PlayStation console and so it will. Eventually, that is, sometime this year; a specific date is yet to be aired. We have, at least, been told that testers have had their hands on the game and alterations made in-line with their comments. Only a few tweaks were needed, though, so nothing major.
In all, the three and a half minute video does enough to grab our attention and excite us about Psychonauts 2. However, as the game’s events start almost immediately after the first’s ended, you may want to have a run through that Psychonauts before you pick this one up. Fortunately, you can find it on the PS Store. Otherwise, I’m sure there’s a summary somewhere online (or you could even watch somebody play the original, if that’s more your thing).
