With a month and a day before release, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom has gone gold. (You can now confirm the time off with your boss.) The announcement was made in an article on the PlayStation Blog, along with a new trailer and additional details about the game.
The behind the scenes trailer shows you more of the Kingdom Mode in the game. Evan needs to rebuild the kingdom, and you can choose how that looks by building your own. Different people throughout the world can be recruited as subjects, and they can work a weapon shop, item shop, or even build an airship to transport your team. From the trailer, it sounds like this part of the game will be mandatory in order to complete the game.
The next feature is Skirmish Mode. It lets you command a group of soldiers on a battlefield to repel invading forces. It’s not quite Total War: Ding Dong Dell Edition, but units are identified by colorful weapon icons. Winning will give you points to spend to expand and protect your growing kingdom.
Finally, the combat system will have a lot more action than the first game. You can move around and switch characters and weapons. You will also be able to utilize Higgledies. They are like familiars, but they can help you by attacking, using magic, and generally assisting the party. Special Higgledy Heroes can be recruited to open new pathways for you to explore.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom releases on March 23rd.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
