Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 won’t be getting a remaster.
In what’s sure to be a disappointing blow to fans of the original Modern Warfare trilogy, Activision has now confirmed there are no plans to remaster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Excitement has been building over a potential remaster of Modern Warfare 3 following rumours that began to circulate following the release of Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign.
Given the success that Activision has had with their previous two remasters it would be logical to assume that the publisher would follow this up with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and have a full remastered trilogy, right? Well, no, apparently not.
An Activision spokesperson told fan site Charli Intel that a remaster for Modern Warfare 3 does not exist squashing any rumours in the process saying, “A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect.”
No doubt fans will be disappointed with this announcement but the Call of Duty series isn’t losing steam by any means. While there are currently no plans for remastered titles the publisher is remaining focused on putting out a new Call of Duty title every year that can be played alongside Call of Duty: Warzone.
The next instalment in the Call of Duty series will be available on both current and last-gen titles, rumoured to be titled Call of Duty: Vanguard, the title is expected to once again take the series back to its roots in a world war II setting.
