No Man’s Sky has dropped another free update. Dubbed Desolation, the main draw is the addition of giant freighters adrift in deep space. They are filled with treasures, including upgrades for your capital ship, but they are equally dangerous. The environmental systems were broken, the defense systems may not recognize you as a friendly visitor, and aggressive aliens may have taken up residence there. Whether alone or with a friend, you can crack these ships open to explore and loot.
To bring “a more engaging combat experience” to the entire game, the Desolation update also tweaks the weapons. It balances, changes effects, improves, and changes the feel of weapons across the game “for a faster, more dynamic combat experience.”
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sean Murray describes the changes and lets everyone know that this isn’t the end. The team at Hello Games will continue to provide more free updates to the game. If you haven’t had a chance to play the game that’s possibly the biggest turnaround story in gaming, No Man’s Sky: Desolation isn’t a bad place to start.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
