There’s a new challenger stepping into the ring today and it’s Mighty Fight Federation, a new brawler for consoles and PC.
Super Smash Bros. may be the gold standard for party brawlers, but there’s no harm in other developers having a crack at taking Nintendo’s crown.
Mighty Fight Federation is the latest to try to tempt players away from smashing Link in the face with Mario’s bum, and it’s not half bad if our review is anything to go by.
The brawler features 13 playable characters, including some familiar faces, like Yooka Laylee’s, er, Yooka and Laylee.
While I’m sat here comparing the game to the Super Smash series, the developer says that it’s actually inspired by the classic arena fighter Power Stone. Well, my arguement is that nobody under the age of 35 remembers Power Stone, so Smash comparisons it is.
Mighty Fight Federation is perfect as a party game with up to four local players. If you can’t get four players together in one room (who can these days?) then there’s always the online multiplayer where you can take your skills. The game also features a single-player arcade story for each character with multiple endings. Lots to do, then.
Furthermore, if you buy the game on PS4 and then get a PS5 console at a later date, you’ll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version at no extra cost. Hear that, Activision. No extra cost!
