There’s a new historical shooter out today on PS4 and Xbox One, and it’s Tannenberg, the follow-up to BlackMill Games’ Verdun.
The game is releasing today via digital storefronts and should be online within the next couple of hours, and then you’ll be able to go online with friends, family, and strangers, and attempt to shoot each other in the face with old-timey weapons.
Tannenberg is a multiplayer shooter set during WW1, so don’t expect the modern niceties that we’re used to in other shooters. You’ll find no fancy red dots, heartbeat sensors, or nuclear killstreaks. Instead, you’ll find authentic time-period weapons, a slower pace of play, and massive 40-player battles across several game modes.
There’s a new trailer up above which is worth checking out, and our review is still in progress. We’ve had code on hand for a couple of days, but with the game being multiplayer-only (though you can play offline with Bots) we thought we’d wait until the servers were populated with real players before taking the fight to the trenches. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get a review out to you before the weekend is up.

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
