Did you know that there’s a Zombieland 2 movie coming out? Well, there is. There’s also a new Zombieland game, too, though it doesn’t strictly follow the plot of the new movie. Still, it’s kind of nice to see a game based on a movie; something of a rarity these days. Oh, how I miss those licensed Spider-Man and James Bond games…
Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip is out today on PS4, available via the PlayStation Network for a digital release, and at major retailers, if you’re looking to bag a physical game for your collection.
The game is a twin-stick shooter with a strong focus on co-op gameplay, though you’ll be able to play alone if you’re a Columbus. If you do actually have friends, you can play up to four-player co-op on one console. Now that’s a rarity! You’ll be able to take on the undead in the game’s campaign, and then wile the hours away in Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip’s Horde Mode.
There are a total of 15 zombie types, 18 levels, and over 12 playable characters, including the original foursome from the first Zombieland movie as well as some new faces from the sequel.
I can’t speak to the game’s quality myself, and neither can anyone else at Pure PlayStation as we’ve yet to try the game. It looks OK, though, so who knows, maybe this will be a licensed game that doesn’t suck a bag of balls.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
