Bring out the birthday cake for a fun cooking celebration.
Yesterday Team17 and Ghost Town Games invited players of the Overcooked franchise to celebrate its 5th anniversary of success with plenty of treats for the little chefs to dig into – I thought we were supposed to be giving the presents.
Those that own Overcooked! All You Can Eat, which includes a remastered version of both Overcooked! and Overcooked! 2, received a free update yesterday. This update included 5 new birthday-themed levels, a new chef that looks like a tabby cat, a new recipe to make a lovely brew, and finally, a new in-game mechanic where living playing cards stalk the different levels as they chase chefs and teleport them around the kitchen.
Phil Duncan, the co-founder of Ghost Town Games had this to say about the special occasion:
“Five years on, still the most rewarding aspect of working on Overcooked! is getting to see and hear the reaction from players around the world. Seeing the fan art, the music covers, the cosplay and even the occasional tattoo is something I’ll never get used to. Hearing stories about players bonding with friends and loved ones over their time spent playing the game together is something we’re humbled to have played a part in.”
I couldn’t agree more as someone that has played Overcooked! 2 with a couple of friends as well as my siblings, it’s a great experience to try with others even if by the end we are screaming down each other’s necks as we have played for too long and can’t get the teamwork right. We still end up going back to playing Overcooked! when we have nothing else to do.
Those that wish to be part of the birthday celebration can play Overcooked! All You Can Eat on both PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or Nintendo Switch.
Not only does it run up to 4K and at 60fps (30fps for Switch) it has also brought cross-platform multiplayer to the franchise for the first time meaning you can celebrate this anniversary with even more of your friends no matter what platform they play on.
