Planet Coaster: Console Edition isn’t far from release now for PS4 and Xbox One, and to drum up a bit of hype for the game, the developers at Frontier Developments have put together another Dev Diary, and this time it’s all about the different ways you can play the game.
If you want to play a campaign with a set of challenges, you can, but if you just want to open your park, build as many mad rides as possible, and then see how long you can last until the money runs dry, you can do that too. It’s worth a watch if you’re interested.
What has also been confirmed as part of the same PR email is that players who buy Planet Coaster: Console Edition on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to get a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game, so long as you’re using the same console account.
The great thing is that this isn’t only for digital editions of the game, but also physical copies, too. So if you get Planet Coaster: Console Edition on PS4 or Xbox One as a disc, you can pop that same disc into your next-gen console and you’ll be able to play the next-gen version. Sweet, innit?

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
