Borderlands 3 is giving players a chance to take the looter/shooter for a spin. The free weekend promotion will open up the game starting today and run through August 9th at 9:00 AM PT / 5:00 PM BST. According to the post on the game’s official site, that means you can do anything and go anywhere during the trial. It will only feel like you own the game, but, if you decide to pick it up, all your progress will transfer to the full version.
Nothing comes without a catch, so there are a few stipulations. You can only download the trial from the game’s base version on the PlayStation Store. To participate in the free weekend, you’ll also need to have an active PS Plus membership. As the old commercial goes, it pays to be a member.
If you’re looking to save some money and like shooting things to make loot explode out of them, Borderlands 3 might be a good choice for your weekend gaming.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
