Sony held a PlayStation VR Press Conference at GDC yesterday. The conference revealed a boat load of new information on the device, which we shall break down for you right… now! Let’s get two of the biggest questions out of the way first: when will it be released and how will it be priced? Well unfortunately we don’t have an exact release date at the moment, but we do know that it will be out in October 2016 and that it will be up for pre-order very soon. As for the price, the headset will set you back €399.99/$399.99/£349.99.
What do you get in the box for that price? Well take a gander below and see for yourself.
- VR Headset
- Processor Unit
- VR Headset connection cable
- HDMI cable
- USB cable
- Srereo headphones
- AC power cord
- AC adapter
That’s quite a lot of stuff, but you’ll probably also want to purchase a Move controller or two and a PlayStation Camera. You’ll also need a PS4 and DualShock 4 controller, but you probably knew that much already. Hopefully Sony will also sell a bundle that includes a PS Camera and Move controller for those who do not already have them. We’ve included a picture just below with everything that’s in the box.
The the final question for most people is probably to do with games. Well apparently over 230 developers are cooking up something for PS VR, but expect to see around 50 games available between the headset’s launch and the end of the year. Star Wars VR is just one example of a game that was announced at yesterday’s conference, you can check out the trailer for that down below.

Conor is Pure PlayStation’s resident Irishman. Naturally that means he’s constantly slurring his words and turning up stinking of Guiness with a potato in his pocket. It’s not all bad though, because Conor is also a PlayStation nut. When he’s not doing his best Father Jack impression (Father Ted, watch it) he’s got a DualShock 4 in his hand and a Vita in the other. Yeah, we don’t know how he manages it either.
