There’s a brand new firmware update available to download and install today on PS4, version 6.00. Normally, these full, numbered updates are usually pretty big news. Typically we get new system features, like in 5.00 and 5.50. However, today’s update is… disappointing.
The update, which comes in at just under 500MB, apparently only improves the performance of the console. What does that mean? It means it’s another bloody stability update, and nothing more.
Perhaps there are some secret features, but my guess is that this update brings nothing new to the table. Perhaps Sony is busy focusing on prepping the inevitable PS5, and now the PS4 will only receive stability updates. Who knows…
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
