There’s a new PS4 firmware update available to download and install today. In fact, it’s actually been available since Wednesday, but you’d be forgiven for not knowing as it’s not exactly a big news piece.
The new update, version 7.51, is another stability update, though Sony has changed the messaging in recent time to say that such updates “improve system performance.” So, yeah. Do you notice your system performing better? Is it nailing those tricky landings? Or is it sitting out the next few games on the substitutes bench?
The 7.51 update is available to download and install, and it should automatically happen. The good news is that it’s not a large update, coming in at just under 472MB in size, so it’ll take you no time to download and install.
As I’ve said before, it’s best to temper expectations when it comes to PS4 system updates. The PS4 is nearing the end of its life, and with the PS5 just around the corner, and the reveal rumoured for next week, Sony’s engineers are no doubt doubling down their efforts on getting the PS5 operating system running in time for launch day. Still, never say never, right?
