I’m guessing most people have completed Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4, and are gearing themselves up for the expansion. But I have some bad news for you if you’re looking to enjoy the game again in its fully remastered glory over on the PlayStation 5, come launch, because your save won’t be transferable. That means you’ll have to start the whole adventure again. Or leave it behind completely.
I guess for some, revisiting Peter Parker and his digitised world won’t be too high on their agenda – what with the expansion coming and the like. But for those gamers who were hoping to swing again in an improved, digitised world, they’ll have to work out if the upgrades are worth their RRP. Because there will be no free upgrade for owners of the game on the PlayStation 4, at least not one that’s being spoken about. And that’s something many believe goes against what Sony has said previously.
But there seems to be a lot of that going on this time around.
Commentators online seem to think this is because the remastered version is seen as a completely new game by the team behind the scenes (rather than being a cross generation upgrade). Coming complete not only with an overhauled presentation, built from the ground up, but a new trophy list to boot. Yet, I’m guessing a lot of those trophies will be familiar from previous run-throughs meaning the platinum will only be available if you’re happy to grind them out again. Another negative to the whole matter.
And let’s not forget, it’s going to be a digital only release as one unlucky Twitter user found out – sounds like a tough sell to me, especially if they’re going to be marketing this two year old game at full price…
