About bloody time. PS4 users have been screaming out to Sony for folder support on the PS4 for months – nay – years. While we always knew that Sony would eventually add the feature, it’s good to finally get some confirmation.
Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog that PS4 System Software 4.00 will add folder support and some more general improvements to the user interface.
The blog post mentions that the user interface will have a few changes that will be instantly noticeable, such as a refined What’s New tab and different icons. There’s also some changes coming to the Quick Menu. Normally when you hold down the PS Button on your DualShock 4, you’ll be taken out of your game and presented with the Quick Menu screen. Once PS4 System Software 4.00 rolls out, it’ll only take up a small portion of your screen.
Trophies are also getting some new features too, one of which is really something we thought would have been there since day one: offline mode, because not everyone is online…
The big takeaway from this is the folder support. It’s something that’s been asked about daily by PS4 users, so it’s nice that Sony has finally gotten around to it.
There’s much more over on the PlayStation Blog, but we’ll leave you with a few images of the new update down below.
