If you were one of the lucky ones to lay hands on a PS5, you have a new update waiting for you today. According to PlayStation.com, version 20.02-02.25.00 will be replacing version 20.02-02.20.00. As to what that new sequence of numbers gets you, it looks like Sony is keeping its cards close to the vest as usual. The official description is “This system software update improves system performance.” It would be nice to have a little more detail, but some things never change.
The rest of the page has instructions on how to download the PS5 update file from a USB stick. Alarmingly, it also has a link for instructions on how to hard reset your console and the Fix & Replace tool. Let’s hope you won’t need the instructions for those any time soon.
We have heard different opinions on how the new systems are running and the issues people are having. Is your system better after this update, or are you still looking to grab one?
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
