Might be Japan-exclusive…
Lost Judgement is less than a month away from release, but a listing on Japan’s PSN account suggests that players may be getting treated to a demo before then.
Anticipation for Lost Judgement has been building over the last few months following the success of Judgement in 2019. The launch of Lost Judgement will be a first for RGG studios as it is set to launch worldwide simultaneously, Judgement and every previous entry in the Yakuza series has launched locally in Japan before being released in the rest of the world, sometimes up to a year later.
A new trailer for Lost Judgement was shown during Gamescom, essentially a recut version of the previous trailer, which gave us an extended look at new characters, settings and shedding some more light on the story. Not long after the Twitter account PSN releases uncovered a preview for Lost Judgement listed on Japan’s PlayStation Network.
Of course, it remains to be seen how accurate this information is and leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt. The “leaked” Mandalorian gameplay wasn’t entirely legit, but this seems like a good indication of things to come. This demo may also be exclusive to Japan’s PlayStation Store but it seems rather unlikely given the effort that Sony has gone to ensure that Lost Judgement receives a worldwide release.
Ryu Ga Gotaku Studios and the Yakuza series has always had a bit of a niche audience but the series has slowly been building up steam and getting the attention and success it deserves, and it warms my heart to see. In the meantime, if you’re undecided you could always try out Judgement which is available on PS NOW and get to know Tak and the gang.
Lost Judgement is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S on September 24th 2021.
