Update 1: A report from Reuters is saying there have been two massive cyber attacks this morning impacting services for Twitter, Reddit, and even Amazon.
Users around the internet are reporting being unable to use PSN right now. When we check the status page, it shows everything is working normally, but we receive this message when we try to view the online PlayStation Store via the website:
This could be the result of servers melting down as Battlefield 1 dropped today and a large number of players are trying to download their game and go online, but there are also reports of a larger internet problem impacting the East Coast of the United States, something that may not be completely within Sony’s control. If that’s the case, we’ll give them a bit of slack, but just this once…
We will continue to update this story when we have more information. For quick updates on all things PlayStation, follow us on Twitter.
We sometimes link to online retail stores. If you buy something from our links, we may make a small commission which goes towards keeping the lights on and coffee in the pot.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
