Ever wondered what it’s like to be blind? It’s a bit of a morbid question, yet I’m sure I’m not the only that’s every wondered what it’s like to see the world through Daredevil’s radioactive peepers.
Unfortunately there’s no Daredevil game in sight, but there’s something quite interesting coming to PSVR this month that should satiate anybody’s blind curiosity.
Blind, a thriller for the PSVR, puts players in the position of a young woman who awakens to learn she can no longer see, or at least not in the traditional sense of the word.
Instead of using your eyes to see, you’ll use echolocation to briefly glimpse the mysterious and scary mansion you’ll be exploring in Blind.
“Most VR titles use the medium to flood players’ senses, but we wanted to do something special and restrict the senses in a way,” says Matteo Lana, CEO of Tiny Bull Studios. “But even as Blind inhibits our standard perception of sight, the echolocation mechanic and fully-encompassing environment engage the player and enhance the puzzle gameplay in a way that only VR can.”
It certainly looks and seems interesting from what I’ve seen in trailers, but the proof will be in the pudding when Blind releases digitally for PSVR on September 18th.
