Today has seen a couple of big updates for the PS4 firmware system, as well as the PS4 Remote Play app – which has now had its name changed. Earlier today Sony detailed the PS4 firmware 8.00 update that is rolling out today, but there’s another update lurking for PSVR owners.
PSVR players will be prompted today to update to the latest firmware version, 5.00. There are no details on what the update does, and after having tried out a couple of games since installing the update, I’ve not noticed anything substantially different.
Given that the update has released today alongside the PS4 8.00 update, it’s likely that it’s connected to that update in preparation for the release of PS5, which will be compatible with the current-generation PSVR headset – though a couple of PSVR games won’t be playable on PS5.
I guess we’ll just have to wait until we can connect our PSVR headsets to the PS5 when it releases next month.
