Double Fine Productions has spilled some rotten beans today by announcing that its highly anticipated Psychonauts 2 will not be releasing this year as originally planned, but will instead be targeting 2020.
The announcement came via the game’s official FIG page – like fundraising site like Kickstarter – where the developers also reaffirmed that, despite the studio now being under the Microsoft Studios banner, Psychonauts 2 will still be releasing on PS4.
“There really shouldn’t be too many other noticeable changes for you at all, at least not for a while…with one notable exception: We’re now targeting next year for release. We know it’s always disappointing when you have to wait a bit longer, but we also know that you are an amazing, supportive bunch, who – just like us – want the game to be as good as possible. So we’re hopeful you’ll understand! <3”
It’s a stinker, sure, but if more time means a better game, I think the majority of the game’s fans will have no problem with a delay. Besides, it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other great games to play in the mean time…
