It’s still hot, so it’s time to hit the beach. Or, you could just retreat to a dark cool place and play games with a beach in them. Let’s do a quick, biased pro/con list. Con: game consoles don’t work in water. Pro: no one has ever been eaten by a shark while playing games in their living room. That’s science!
If you do hit the sunny, sandy shores, we will offer one piece of advice from a hit Baz Luhrmann song full of advice: wear sunscreen. (We are sure it was a hit somewhere.) Of course, not burning seems like an evergreen good advice tip, but maybe the real lesson is to make money by selling people obvious information.
Here is what is keeping us from the beach this week. Be sure to drop your plans and any good advice in the comments.
I’m not sure how it happened, but 2MD VR Football, a $12 indie game dedicated to the two-minute drill in American football, has become my go-to VR game of choice. I didn’t know I needed it in my life, but I do. Besides some awesome VR Football, I’ll probably relive my youth with my newly purchased NES Classic.
With the current heatwave that has lasted more than a few hours still baking us here in Blighty I have actually been going outside for more than a few minutes at a time, and my play time has taken a dramatic knock as a result. Any time I do get in my darkened shelter away from the raging ball of fury in the sky that we call the sun will be spent playing Ghost Recon Wildlands, which has surprised me somewhat by not managing to hold my attention the way I thought it would, so I might switch it up and jump in on some Kingdom Hearts 2.8. That is of course if England lose the football tomorrow as if they win I will probably be hungover for the foreseeable future.
I’ve got a whole week off from work, so I’m treating the next 9 days as one long weekend. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do when it comes to games, so I’ll be checking my to-do list to get some reviews out the door before the next wave of work comes my way. When I’m not dropping my pants for the site, I’ll be playing some Tomb Raider, Hitman, and Rock Band 4. My neighbours really don’t like me…
Now that I’m finished with the Red Faction Remaster I’m going to take a spin with the latest PS Plus title, Absolver. I was waiting for a sale before purchasing it but this is even better. Here’s hoping it’s as interesting as the advertising promises.
It is a busy weekend, but I will continue to work on reviews. I will pull something new from the pile of shame if I have more time.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
