Are movies based on games the next idea to be overdone? In case you didn’t see it today, the Mortal Kombat movie is going to be rated R in North America. That rating will be driven in part by the inclusion of fatalities, the gory and outrageous ways to kill your opponent from the game. (I know you know, but in case a non-gamer happens to stumble across this article…) While we don’t know which characters will be giving or receiving a fatality, we do know that Joe Taslim (Jaka from The Raid) will be one of my favorite characters, Sub-Zero, when the movie releases on March 5th, 2021.
If you could make any game into a movie (and keep Hollywood from ruining it), what would it be? I would love to see a real Bioshock or Dead Space. God of War could make for an excellent movie (or three). Maybe you’ll see an article about this in the near future.
While you wait, here are our plans for weekend. Be sure to drop your own and any ideas for a game movie in the comments.
I’ve had Dragon Quest Builders 2 installing over night so I have every intention of playing nothing but that this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the first entry in the series and if this one builds (no pun intended) on that one then I’m in for a treat!
I’ve been back and forth between two very different but equally excellent PSVR titles this past week. I’ll be wrapping up Quill’s adventure and cleaning up trophies for the platinum in Moss and jumping back into the incredibly addictive Sairento to keep leveling up through the endlessly playable procedurally generated missions. I also have Mark of the Ninja to get started and Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle to review so plenty to keep me busy!
The amazing backlog quest continues as I’ve knocked off three more since last weekend. This time Deadpool is getting a quick run through, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is on the way. Will I pick up even more games to satisfy my unbelievable fortune of backlog completion?!
I will be investing some more time in My Time at Portia. And watching the British Grand Prix, obvs.
I will be spending a lot of time with family in the next week, so I’ll probably play some Borderlands co-op and give Overcooked a try. I will also continue to play some Octopath Traveler on Switch.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
