Pure PlayStation Plays: Week 223

Pure PlayStation HQ is still a sweaty sauna box right now, minus old hairy fellas in tiny, tiny towels, so please send your sympathies this way. Thanks!

The weekend is here again, and you know what that means: gaming! Hopefully you’ll all be having some time away from your regular work/school commitments to play some games. It’s a great way to block out what’s going on in the world, even if it’s only for half an hour, it’s still something, and you need to be taking care of your head as well as your body. So please, take some time this weekend to do something that makes you happy, even if it’s not gaming, though playing games is far easier in this heat than anything else…

Here’s what we’re doing this weekend:

Chris Harding

I’m sweating all weekend, that’s what I’m doing. I’ve got my portable air-conditioning system that gets lugged around to whichever room in the house I’m spending more than 3 minutes in. And yes, that means it comes for poo time.

If my sweaty hands can keep a hold of a controller long enough to turn a console on, I’ll have some fun. I’ve got a free house this weekend so I can play whatever I want, whenever I want! I’ve got some reviews to catch up on, like Tannenberg, and some previews to do, like DIRT 5. Oh yeah baby, next-gen games are already here for some of us! Sorry for rubbing it in…

Jez and I have had some good times inside Onward VR on the Oculus Quest, so there’s a good chance we’ll buddy up to take down the evil… A.I soldiers because we’re too scared to play with the other boys. Shut up…

Jason Frye

My weekend will be dominated by reviews with Pathfinder: Kingmaker taking a leading role. It’s a massive game, and I think I spent a half-hour in the incredibly detailed character creator alone. When I want a quick break from reviews, I’ll jump into Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut. I’d like to see the end before the sequel drops, but it’s looking less likely.

Yasmine Hubbard

I’ll be knocking out another review this weekend. Meanwhile, I’ll be trying to fight the urge to buy Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. There too many games coming out next week that I’ve been looking forward too for ages, so I’m trying to keep all my pennies back for them. Being an adult is hard…

What may help is discovering thanks to Jason’s news article last week that I have a free updated version of Zombie Driver: Immortal Edition on the PS4 – thanks to purchasing it on the PS3. I don’t remember purchasing the PS3 edition but as Jason rightfully points out, it was a free PlayStation Plus game a while back, so presumably, that’s where I got it from. That or my drunken late-night purchases have got more out of hand than I realised…

Jeremy Peterson

My top priority this weekend and beyond is Wasteland 3 for review. It’s a massive game that is going to take my full attention. Which means Crisis VRigade 2, which I bought last week and still haven’t tried, is gonna have to wait a little longer. I’m still gonna play some Onward VR on the Quest with Mr Pure PlayStation himself whenever I need a break from the Wasteland.

Hannah Ellis

My weekend is looking a little sparse on the gaming front. In other words, I haven’t got a blinking clue what I’m playing. But I think I’m going to try my hand at building something substantial in Minecraft – problem is, it makes me feel queasy just like Wolfenstein…
