Happy December! You know what that means? Time to crack open the advent calendars!
With Christmas fever now upon us, it’s now socially acceptable to put up Christmas decorations, right? Not that I have started putting up tinsel around my gaff last week…
Unfortunately, this month may be celebrated slightly differently compared to other years, but let’s try and look at the bright-side. You can still wear dorky elf hats, buy an abundance of candy canes, and re-watch Home Alone for the zillionth time.
We cannot forget the most important thing of all – you’re still going to get that questionable Christmas jumper from a family relation, no matter if it’s in person or through the mail. Sigh, some things will never change…
Shall we get a jingle onto the main event and see what everyone is up to this weekend?
While I wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to release, I’m trying to catch up on games I missed this year. I’m bouncing between Ghost of Tsushima and some others. One of those, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, may earn a best value award from me for packing so much content into the game. No matter what I wind up playing, it’s a good time to be a gamer.
I’ll be continuing my foray into the pretty decent Immortals Fenyx Rising for review, and so far it is keeping me more than entertained. I also have Assassins Creed Valhalla untouched and ready to go, and with Cyberpunk just around the corner it all has the makings of a very busy gaming weekend.
I have a workload of reviews to get through so I will be beginning my playthrough of Friday The 13th: Killer Puzzle on the PS4, I’m a fan of the movies so will see how that fares (Keep an eye out for the review), I also plan to play Chicken Police: Paint It Red and Double Pug Switch on the Xbox One as I’ve had them through as well. After them I’ll chill with Runescape and Modern Warfare, have it.
I’ve got a couple of days of play into the sidescrolling stealthy action game Wildfire and it’s pretty cool and unexpected in all the right ways. The review should be along soon. I’ve also just finished the review for Contractors VR out now for the Oculus Quest. Spoiler alert: it’s awesome! That VR shooter will tide me over until Respawn’s Medal of Honor drops next week over at Oculus. I can’t wait! Speaking of unchecked enthusiasm, will Cyberpunk live up to the hype? We’re all about to find out…
Launch day delivery for Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age means next Wednesday at the earliest during the Christmas month, apparently. So, apart from refreshing the delivery update page almost constantly, I’ll be roaming the beautiful world of Okami HD a little more. That’s not a bad thing, though, because its brush mechanic is quite addictive (impressive, too), which means there is a silver lining to all this.
I’m wanting to keep my gaming commitments at a bare minimum this week. Why? Because Keanu Reeves the game…I mean Cyberpunk 2077 finally comes out next week! Joking aside, I’m really excited yet oddly nervous for the game arrival. Therefore, this week I’m planning on playing Ghostrunner that I bought from my Black Friday hall. Hopefully, it will provide a short but sweet experience.
I’ve got so much to do I don’t know where to begin. I’m still 2 weeks away from getting the PS5 and Series X delivered to my door, so I’ll be making the most of that time with the Series S and Immortals Fenyx Rising, which is really good on the tiny console. Jez has strong-armed me into buying yet another VR shooter for the Quest, so I’ll probably go a few rounds with him in Contractors VR, and when I’m done sweating and swearing, it’ll be back to the desk to put reviews and videos together for your enjoyment.
