Pure PlayStation Plays: Week 241 – And a Happy New Year!

Christmas has been and gone and we’re all starting to shake away the New Year’s Eve hangover. It’s been a weird 12 months and I think we’re all glad to see the back of it. It’s a new year which means new opportunities, new games to play, and new news to report to you lot. We’re gonna be busy.

But, for the next couple of days at least, we’re still taking things slow. We all got a bunch of games for Christmas so we’re taking our time to enjoy them and the time with our families. So, technically, we’re still on our holidays until January 4th, 2021. After that, it’s back to normal and we’ll do our best to keep you informed on the latest goings-on in the world of video games. Between then and now, don’t expect much from us, but do keep an eye on lovely little YouTube channel for other videos and reviews.

Here’s how we’re spending the first weekend of 2021:

Chris Harding

I’m going to cram in a few more play sessions with some new – and old – games and then I’ll be back on the grind. I’ve got a few videos on the backburner that I want to get out for our lovely readers and viewers to enjoy, so even though it’s technically work, I think I’ll find some comfort in having a normal routine again. Chocolate and whiskey for breakfast has become far too normal, so it’s time to get back to coffee and toast.

I’ve got the Mafia trilogy on the Series X which I’ve been enjoying a lot, and I’m having another playthrough of the awesomely stupid Saints Row 3 Remastered on PS5. Little Charlie got a PS Vita for Christmas, so if I can tempt him away from that, I might give Uncharted: Golden Abyss another go. I really did enjoy that one back in the day!

Max Everett

I’m a speed run away from Platinum delight on Untitled Goose Game so I’ll be giving that a gander this weekend. Following my wild goose chase I will be eeny meeny miny moeing between World of Goo on Switch or Greedfall on PS4.

Jason Frye

Between watching old samurai movies and playing Ghost of Tsushima, I’ve been exceeding my daily dose of samurai related content. I haven’t bought a katana yet, but I did look. When I want to live in a world of moral grays and be less heroic, Wasteland 3 and its psychotic clowns are ready to deliver. With these and other games still waiting to be finished, the end of the year backlog is great.

Stuart McLean

It’s been a quiet few days of gaming over the festive period, but when I have found time to boot up my console I’ve been giving the Series X a try. Through Gamepass I’ve been playing Carrion and Ori and The Blind Forest and thoroughly enjoying both. If my weekend opens up and allows me more time for gaming, I might finally start Assassins Creed Valhalla.

Yasmine Hubbard

I’ve been playing a lot of Apex Legends over the festive period, so I may continue playing that during the weekend. I’ve also got my eye on a few games on the PlayStation Store January Sales. Maybe I should start the new year in the right (or wrong) way and go on a shopping spree.

Jeremy and Hannah are missing in action for this round of Pure PlayStation Plays. We’ve received word on Twitter that the pair can be found in a German field (feld) burning 2020 calendars. I hope they’re not the 12 Sexy Months by Chris ones…
