Pure PlayStation Plays: Week 245 – Goodbye, Our Brother Jason

It’s a bittersweet day here at Pure PlayStation. It’s the weekend so we should all be happy to at least know what day of the week it is during whatever lockdown we’re on these days. But, it’s also a sad day, because we’re losing one of our own, Jason.

Jason has been with Pure PlayStation since 2016, and he was one of the first recruits to the team. Jason worked his way up to Deputy Editor of Pure PlayStation, which isn’t a position that’s easily given out. It’s earned, and Jason deserved it, and more.

Our Mr Niceguy has taken the decision to leave, and today is his last working day with us, which means it will be the last time you see Jason’s name on the weekly Pure PlayStation Plays piece that we put out. It’s sad, for sure, but Jason will be creating his own website that’s a little different from the norm, so we’re all happy that he’s going to continue to do something he enjoys.

I’ve said thank you to Jason in the only way I really know: with a stupid bit of creativity that’ll get a few giggles, and maybe even a few tears. Watch the video below and you’ll see what I mean. Also, we’ll be splitting the revenue of the video down below with James Blunt. Not because the little squeaky dude has fallen on hard times, but because that’s how YouTube works. So, I’m basically James Blunt’s writing partner now? Maybe today isn’t all that bad…

Now, on to the normal plays stuff.

I’ll be mourning the non-death of Jason. Do not speak to me.

I’m a little sad to be leaving the Pure PlayStation crew, but I know they will be doing great things. I look forward to watching them (and stealing the best ideas). When I look back, I’m really proud to have been part of this group, and I know their best days have yet come.
For gaming, I’ll be playing Resident Evil 3 for the first time, and I may pick up the Atelier Ryza 2. We’ll also be picking up a puppy. He’s a sweet little guy. Thankfully, they don’t have any software updates, but there is some clean up involved.

I’m now dividing my Pure attention across two Pure sites, so I’ll be starting my RE-view series on PureNinty starting with Resident Evil Zero HD on the Switch. Should I get on the PS4 at all I will be playing GTA Online again because I’m a simple man. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll give Gods Will Fall another go. Read the review here.

It’s a sad day here at Pure PlayStation towers as we bid a fond farewell to Jason, so in between consoling myself with alcohol I’ll be consoling myself… on my console. Hitman 3 is hitting all the right spots at the minute and being the trophy whore that I am, doubling up trophies on Hitman 1, 2 and 3 is too good an opportunity to miss. Having platinumed Manuhunter already I may go back and blitz that on the PS5 or even revisit Shadow of the Tomb Raider as I rushed that the first time round. This weekend I am truly spoiled for choice.

It’s a sad week here at Pure PlayStation HQ with Jason leaving the amigos. He’s supported everyone tremendously and has been a true inspiration to learn from. I’m wishing him all the best in his future endeavours! Alongside pulling some Ben Affleck faces with a certain song playing in the background, I’m looking forward to truly relaxing this weekend as I’ve finished a course I was on a few days ago. Maybe I’ll jump back into NFS: Heat and try to pull my friend’s arm into playing with me as I can get that sweet 40% bonus. Plus, trying to take down police cars are always a fun pass time.

Jeremy Peterson

I’ll probably spend some more time in Hitman 3 this weekend. The only question is should I play it in VR or on the PS5? But with Jason leaving, does it even matter anymore?

Hannah Ellis

With the inspiration behind most of my backlog leaving our little fraternity, I will be playing 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim and Stein’s Gate Elite in a tribute of sorts. My gaming strayed into such Japanese titles via Jason’s recommendations and writing. And it has allowed me to truly discover what sort of game I enjoy most. So, for that I’m truly grateful – along for all the other journo wisdom I’ve picked up along the way.
