Pure PlayStation Plays: Week 272

Back 4 Blood beta, anybody?

The weekend is here – again! The 272nd one that we’ve recorded, actually… That means we’re all getting ready to kick back and play some games. Most of us. Some will be at their desks hammering out reviews, videos, and keeping the site populated with new stuff to read over the weekend. Hey, maybe you could do that job? We’re hiring for a Weekend Editor and several other roles, so how about it?

Here’s what we’re up to this weekend.

Chris Harding

I’ve got a mountain of work to be doing and I’m not in the slightest bit sad about it, because for the most part, it’s great work! I’ve got a few PSVR games that need reviewing, including the upcoming Synth Riders which I know is awesome.

Then I’ve got the new update for Pistol Whip to shoot my way through – exciting! And I’ve got a few others that need to be done, but you’ll find out about them when they go live. I’m also super duper excited for this weekend to get out of the way so that next week can be here already. I can’t tell you why, but you’ll find out later this month.

And of course, the Back 4 Blood beta is running and I managed to nab a few keys for myself and the team, so Jeremy, Stuart, and I will be teaming up to take on the zombie hordes.

Megan Smith

I’ve started playing Judgement and it’s great. I never liked the Yakuza series which is very similar to it but this just feels different – who doesn’t like being a detective?

When I’m not solving court cases, I’ll be playing Apex Legends. I might not be able to play as Seer but I can certainly test my luck against him, or earn enough to finally buy him myself but that will take a good 20 levels or so.

Jeremy Peterson

I haven’t had as much time to play lately as I’d like, but I did find the time to drop a ton of time into the Steam version of Zombieland VR: Headshot Fever, and I’m happy to say it’s much better than I thought it would be. It sucks being tethered to a computer so I may have to pick it up for the Quest. I should try to finish any one of the million games I have going on the PS5 but I’ll probably just buy something new.

The gaming forecast for this weekend seems pretty jam-packed. I intend to continue with The Forgotten City, which I haven’t played as much as I would have liked, although I’m enjoying the journey so far.

I’m also in two minds about starting Dodgeball Academia. Usually, I wouldn’t say I like juggling several narrative games at one given time (I’m not good at multi-tasking), but I might make an exception. Of course, this is before I move onto the fact that Apex Legends Season 10 started earlier this week, accompanied by a Ranked Areas mode, which I can’t wait to get stuck into. So many games to be played, so little time

Stuart McLean

I made the decision this week to finally give Cyberpunk 2077 a try on my PS5 and…I kinda like it. Yes, I’ve had my fair share of bugs, even a couple of green screen crashes, but overall I am really enjoying the story and for what it is, I’m really impressed.

Being that I am one of those people who completes all the side quests before the main one means that I have barely scratched the surface, so that will take up what little gaming time I have this weekend.

Bobby Houston

I have a pretty extensive gaming backlog to try and get through. At the moment I’m trying to finally finish Ghost of Tsushima and get to the third island while also going back and trying to complete Judgement in order to prepare for the sequel which is out in September.

And that’s us lot for the weekend. What about you? What are you playing this weekend? Come and have a natter with us on Twitter.
