Another week of mundane work is finally behind us, which means it’s time to clock off from the outside world and clock in on our consoles!
The weekend is the perfect opportunity to start a brand new adventure, catch up with our never-ending gaming backlog, or get sniped for the hundredth time in your favourite FPS – or maybe even the new Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha. So why not share your gaming plans with us; it’s fun to discuss your gaming activities. Do you think we would be at our 275th Pure PlayStation Plays if it weren’t?
Shall we find out what the scallywags behind Pure PlayStation are up to this weekend?
This weekend is going to be pretty average for me. After making the most of the open beta for Riders Republic, which I have been enjoying since Wednesday I will probably be spending my weekend playing Fallout 4.
This fixation all started from last week’s Quakecon where I found myself watching them showcase the updates for Fallout 76. Instead of playing that – which would honestly bore me, I’ve been playing through my Brotherhood of Steel run of the game and attempting to survive the wasteland in my own little way. That means no fast travel.
I’ve been much busier this week than intended so I’m hoping I can rest up and finally get back into Ghosts of Tsushima Director’s Cut to see if it was worth me throwing another £70 at it. When I have had a spare minute I’ve been enjoying the Halo-meets-Portal FPS Splitgate, so I might enjoy a few more rounds on that if I have any time leftover from ninja-ing about, and that will be my weekend spent.
I’m not a big MMO guy in the slightest but I am a massive Final Fantasy fan so this week I’ll finally try out Final Fantasy 14. I am very intrigued, the ongoing story seems really interesting, and to its credit, I’ve heard Final Fantasy 14 has one of the best online communities. I think this has also got to be the most beloved modern Final Fantasy game so I’m excited to try it out and see what all the fuss is about.
I’ll be working on a review for most of the weekend that should hopefully be on the site early next week. If I get any spare time, I want to set up my PS3 and return to the world of Liberty City. It may be an unpopular viewpoint, but Grand Theft Auto IV is my favourite game in the franchise.
I have so many fond memories playing the game, and I’ll never forget getting absorbed into the gritty atmosphere of Liberty City. Not only that, but it had perhaps some of the best missions in any Grand Theft Auto game, including the best mission of all time: Three Leaf Clover. Something about Niko and the lads conducting their heist made the mission endlessly iconic and memorable to this day. So if I ever crave a sandbox experience, it’s still my go-to choice, even if I mute the TV when Roman asks me if I want to go bowling…
I’m going to be spending every free hour in front of my PS5/stuck inside my PSVR this weekend. The amount of reviews I’ve got stacking up is disgusting and I want them out the door and gone by Monday morning so I can start the vicious cycle all over again.
I’ve got some goodies on the go, though, so I can’t complain. Rustler is going to be Friday night’s entertainment, along with Golf Wasteland, Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, and Timothy’s Night. After two hours of sleep before the sun rises and burns my eyes, it’s back into the PSVR headset for Arashi: Castles of Sin and Neonhat. The rest of the weekend… well, I don’t know. We’ll see what needs doing, eh?
