PlayStation 5 games have been given us quite the headache when it comes to their install size. But it now appears as though Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will give us a cause to exhale. In fact, at the size that’s being published today, it weighs in at less than many PlayStation 4 games. So, it seems it can be done (when they want).
The PlayStation 5 isn’t very generous when it comes to its hard drive size. So, you’ll be relieved to hear that there is at least one new game that you should be able to install without too much deleting. That game is the very impressive looking Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which apparently only needs 42.2GB of space. A fact that is quite surprising, given the graphical tricks it will include.
This next game from Insomniac Games doesn’t look like a slouch in preview trailers. You could say it is the best looking game that will be out there in the near future, what with it being a masterclass in ray tracing and the like. Yet, it is asking for a mediocre amount of storage space and as a result, should be quite the speedy download. At least compared to some of the other behemoths out there.
I know it is an animation, unlike many other games. But this isn’t like Scooby Doo or The Simpsons, either. It is cinematic quality in its appearance and that should come with a bigger install size to boot. However, the fact that it doesn’t means the team have found a few extra tricks up their sleeves, which begs the question why it can be done some times and not others.
But I’m not here to read the video games industry’s mind, and you’re hear to read some juicy news, so I’ll leave that thought for another day. In the meantime, if you are still to watch the last trailer, make sure you do – just follow the link in the ‘read more’ bit above.
