Rockstar Games has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have a day one update to address “a number of last minute tweaks, bugs and fixes”. To be honest, it would be weird if it didn’t have a day one patch; most games these days are printed to retail and then updated on the first day.
Unfortunately Rockstar hasn’t elaborated on what the day one patch does, aside from the aforementioned tweaks, bugs and fixes. You could try to play the game without the update and then play again with the update, but you’d most likely be wasting your time. I imagine the patch notes that come with the update won’t be any more informative than what Rockstar has already stated.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for pre-load for those who pre-ordered the digital version of the game. The day one update should install between now and the game’s official release, so hopefully you won’t have to wait on a download before embarking on your epic cowboy adventure.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26th. If you haven’t already, you can pre-order the various editions at Amazon, or via the PlayStation Store.
