Red Dead Redemption 2 was officially unveiled not too long ago but we already have our first major rumor about the sequel. The leaks come by way of 4Chan user, tripcode, who previously proved they knew what they were talking about with GTA Online DLCs based on internal Rockstar communications. This time the leak reveals that RDR2’s online and controllable characters will go the way of Grand Theft Auto 5, or at least that what these leaks suggest. Remember, this is all hearsay at the moment and the game is still some way off launching, so everything here should be taken in conjunction with a healthy amount of salt.
According to tripcode the multiplayer, Red Dead Online, will launch some time after the main game. So only the single player or campaign will be accessible at release. The reason being for server preparations and the worry that gamers wouldn’t even touch the story mode. The next batch of possible news is there will be three playable protagonists in the prequel and John Marston will not be one of them. They will however, be a part of the gang that John belonged to before the events of Red Dead Redemption.
If true, we don’t know how we feel about Rockstar dictating what and how we should play. They shouldn’t worry about some gamers not touching the story since more than enough will play it through. Worrying about server stress, on the other hand, is an acceptable reason to postpone something. Sadly, that didn’t pan out with GTA 5’s online launch now did it? Nonetheless, these are rumors no matter how credible and we’ll keep you updated as we know more.
Red Dead Redemption was developed by Rockstar Games and released back in 2010 to massive praise. The same can be said for the DLC expansion, Undead Nightmare, later that same year. Then in October the long-awaited sequel was announced to release in Fall 2017. What do you think about the leaks? Are you happy with a delayed multiplayer or controlling three, main heroes?
