Red Faction Guerrilla is Getting a Remaster on PS4, Coming This Year

THQ Nordic has announced today that Red Faction Guerrilla will be getting the remastered treatment with a release later this year going under the name Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered. We bet that whichever bright spark came up with that pun gave themselves a pat on the back and the rest of the day off.

It’s an announcement out of nowhere, really, as nobody really expected it. That being said, THQ Nordic has been doing a great job in going through its portfolio of games and getting them out onto PS4. We’ve seen a few PS2 Classics ported over to PS4, so the logical next step is to take the best of the PS3 games, give them a polish, and get them out on PS4. Hey, we’re not complaining – more games is never a bad thing and as far as this editor is concerned, Red Faction Guerrilla is a great addition to any console library.

According to the press release, the Red Faction Guerrilla remaster will come with fully reworked graphics, improved shadow rendering, improved lighting, shader and postprocessing rework, and native 4K support for PS4 Pro. There’s no trailer as of yet, so we can’t really scrutinise the improvements.

THQ Nordic hasn’t given the game a release date, but the publisher has stated it will come out in Q2 of 2018 and that a release date will be announced in due time. Going off the release window given, Red Faction Guerrilla Remastered should come out between April and June. We’ll let you know when there’s more information available.
