Germany doesn’t have the best background, what with that Hitler fella being a raging racist and an all-round loon. So naturally, Germany wants to protect its people from what the state considers “harmful media”, and that includes certain video games.
Strangely enough, Red Faction has been on the list of games-that-ain’t-no-good-for-german-youth for over a decade. Can you believe it? Red Faction? Ok, we can kind of see the similarities between the EDF and the Nazis, but there’s far worse games out there. The latest Wolfenstein is basically all about killing Nazis, though Bethesda had to censor the game in Germany to ensure there were no direct references to Hitler’s posse.
“At THQ Nordic we were aware of the implications of this momentous decision, and needed to adopt a bold approach.” says Jans Binsmaier, Publishing Director of the Viennese studio.
So, Germans, you can finally enjoy the Red Faction games. Only a decade later than intended…

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
