Remedy to Bring Control to ‘Other Platforms’; PS5 Release Basically Confirmed

Remedy’s Control will go down as one of the best games of the generation that not enough people played. Despite decent reviews, Control didn’t manage to hold onto its chart position for very long and quickly slipped out of the public eye.

Not all is lost, mind, as Remedy is looking to gear up for a second shot with a next-gen release. Yes, that means Control on PS5. However, Remedy hasn’t directly said it, but the company has kind of said it in a roundabout way.

As part of Remedy’s latest financial report, the company notes “Control’s high quality, uniqueness and technical innovation provide opportunities to bring the game to new platforms.” Given that it’s already available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, the only other platforms left are Nintendo Switch and unreleased consoles. It is unlikely that Remedy will port the game to the Switch; it already runs like arse on the base PS4 and Xbox One, so the Switch version would run like, er, stinky bum? It’s fair to say, then, that Control will get its second shot in the spotlight on the next-gen consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

And quite rightly, too. Control is a great game let down by the studio reaching further than the current-gen consoles can manage. A next-gen port would almost assuredly iron out any and all performance-related problems, and hopefully, give the game the attention it deserves.

It’s worth noting, too, that Remedy itself has admitted that the marketing budget for the game was nowhere near what a regular AAA game would receive, so hopefully, this is something that can be remedied (haw haw) with the PS5/Xbox Series X release.
