Remnant: From the Ashes Sells Over 1 Million Copies, Developers Celebrate With Free Halloween DLC

Remnant: From the Ashes has come from nowhere to become one of this generation’s great games, as made evident by the news that the game has managed to sell over a million copies since its release back in August.

To celebrate this milestone achievement, the game’s developer, Gunfire Games, is releasing a new free update today. The new update brings Hardcore Mode into play, where players will only have one life. If you die, it’s game over and you’ll have to start again. Sounds hardcore to me. Perhaps a little hardcore for me, but I’ve no doubt Kyle will get stuck into it, seeing as he reviewed the game with high praise earlier this year.

“A big thank you to all of the fans who helped Remnant: From the Ashes achieve this major milestone,” said Yoon Im, COO of Perfect World Entertainment. “Gunfire Games has made a truly special game, and it’s fantastic to see how much it has resonated with players. The team has awesome plans in the works that will continue to keep the game fresh and challenging. We’re looking forward to continuing this journey with them and all of the fans.”

“The response to Remnant: From the Ashes has been overwhelming and humbling,” said Gunfire Games co-founder and president, David Adams. “We’re excited to expand Remnant’s universe and know players will love the new game content we have in the pipe for 2020. They’ve been asking almost daily for harder and harder challenges, and we are thrilled to unveil Hardcore Mode. Let’s see who has the skills to dominate the Root and make it out alive in one shot!”

Today’s update is just the start for Remnant: From the Ashes. Gunfire Games has released its roadmap for the game and what’s to come over the next 12 months. It all starts today with the Hardcore Update. Spring 2020 will bring the Corsus and Survival Update, while Late 2020 is Top Secret (or maybe they just don’t know themselves!)
