Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne Releasing Later This Year

The next season of the Re:ZERO anime was delayed into July, but it looks like that’s not the only new story on the horizon. Announced today,  Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne is a tactical adventure game that tells a story separate from the anime. Set one month after Subaru starts his isekai life, the royal selection ceremony is postponed. After rushing to the capital city for some answers, they find out there is a sixth candidate. The dragon stone said there would only be five, and questions of legitimacy and suspicion are once again cast toward Emilia. You’ll need to unravel the mystery. If the show is any indication, you’ll probably dodge death a few times. Or not.

You might be worried about a new adventure in a beloved universe, but the story and characters are in good hands. The story is being supervised by the original author, Tappei Nagatsuki. New characters are designed by the original artist Shinichirou Otsuka, and many of the old characters you love will also make an appearance. Speaking of characters, the dialogue will be available in English or Japanese audio with English subtitles.

If you like special editions, the game will offer two. The Day One Edition is your standard MSRP with game and a limited, set of four character pins. The fourth pin is a mysterious new character, but the other three pins are Subaru, Rem, and Emilia. The Collector’s Edition includes the game, pins, a soundtrack of original game music, a SteelBook case, a color art book, a commentary with a foreword from the creators, and a box to hold all of it for $89.99. Both versions are listed on Amazon, but you can’t pre-order it yet. It should be live very soon.

We only have a winter release window for now, but Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne could be another chance to spend more time on a new adventure with all the characters in the Kingdom of Lugunica. If you want more info about the anime, an announcement is scheduled for June 11th.
