Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne Trailer Shows New Character Melty

During the New Game Plus Expo today, Spike Chunsoft debuted a new trailer for Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne. It’s a quick recap of the plot with a message that the royal selection process has been delayed due to a sixth candidate’s appearance. Her name is Melty, and the trailer doesn’t show us much about her yet beyond a quick dialogue screen and some of her character design. Is she working to put forward an evil scheme, or is she a victim of fate?

Despite being a new story in the same world, it’s being managed by the creators. Melty’s design was created by Shinichirou Otsuka who illustrated the Re:Zero light novels. Based on the quick look in the trailer, she’ll fit in perfectly with the rest of the world. The story will be managed by Tappei Nagatsuki, the writer and creator of Re:Zero, so you can expect it to feel authentic to the series.

With Melty’s appearance and the delay of the royal selection, people start looking for someone to blame. As you might expect, some of that mistrust goes straight to Emilia. Your job will be to unravel the conspiracy and find out why another candidate has suddenly appeared.

Check out the trailer for a quick look at the action. If you want a physical version, you can pre-order the Day One Edition with a limited set of pins or the Collector’s Edition with pin set, an art book, soundtrack, SteelBook case, and outer box at your favorite retailer.
