Rockstar Games is Preparing a Trailer for… Something (But Definitely Not GTA 6)

Rockstar Games has always been one of the most secretive developers in the industry, but every now and then the publisher will let something slip.

We’ve had almost a decade of GTA 5 and now we’re all ready for something else, right? Well don’t get your hopes up but Rockstar is preparing something, but what the something is could be anything. It could be nothing. It could be GTA 6. It could just be another bloody GTA Online trailer. Or, more likely, a fresh trailer for the next-gen version of GTA 5 that will release later this year on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The famed developer/publisher has posted a new job listing on its website, hinting at the studio’s upcoming plans.

The position is for a “cinematic gameplay capture artist” who will work with the studio’s “video editing and trailer teams to produce outstanding videos using exclusively in-game shots,” among other things.

Now you could look at that and say “hey, Chris, what the hell is this B.S?”

That would be fair, but let’s look to the past, shall we?

The last time Rockstar was hiring for a similar position it was shortly before we got our first look at GTA V being announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. I say shortly before but it was actually 6 months later. But still…

The most likely outcome is that we’re going to be getting a next-gen trailer for GTA V that shows off the game’s improvements on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Expect buzzwords, Shark Cards, and a nice big $60 price tag. Oh, and maybe even VR support.

It would be great to have a surprise GTA 6 announcement, but c’mon, let’s be realistic. There are still so many Shark Cards that have gone unsold…
