Gematsu has kindly translated a job advert from Japanese. And boy does it make interesting reading. Bandai Namco has advertised for somebody who has a “deep knowledge of the PS2 titles Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, and Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War.”
Maybe we’re jumping the gun by assuming this could only mean a remastered collection, but in this day and age, where every studio and its dog has had a re-release there’s a good chance that we’re not. There’s a chance we’re putting two and two together and getting… (*counts fingers*) four.
This would be a strange development, though, considering we are still waiting on Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown to get a release date. But perhaps the studio plan on releasing the remaster post-7. Let Skies Unknown whet everybody’s appetite and pounce with a classic collection to relive those nostalgic fights.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is a highly anticipated sequel to a mixed bag series. It however has seemingly disappeared from marketing blurb and we have no idea when we’ll see it again. If ever. Should it materialise in the future and see the light of day, it promises an immersive VR element to let us all go full Tom Cruise ala Top Gun. We for one hope it’s still in the pipeline for that and that alone. Take my breath away…
Are you fond of classic Ace Combat? Or is there another remaster that you’d prefer to see? Comment below.
